PERFECTION GROUPS
Perfection groups were exclusive MySpace communities that claimed to only accept the "most attractive" or "elite" scene kids on the platform. These groups were run by scene/emo/goth kids and required members to meet strict beauty standards.
Members acted superior, believing they were the "best" on MySpace.
To be accepted into the groups, heavily edited photos, extreme thinness, and a scene/emo aesthetic were required.
Many of these groups promoted eating disorders (Ana/Mia) as a lifestyle.
If accepted, users had to add (AP) (VIP) or (PD) to their names to avoid being kicked out.
WHORE TRAINS
A whore train was a friend-boosting strategy where groups required members to mass-advertise each other in bulletins to gain more friends (to look cool, obvs!)
Users had to prove they had thousands of friends (usually starting at 1K or 2K) and a scene/emo look in order to be accepted. They had to post bulletins featuring the group's members (like an advertisement) a set number of times per week, usually twice a day.
(Having higher friend counts = higher status in the group)
BULLETINS
Bulletins were public posts that appeared on your friends' homepages, kind of like Facebook's status updates or Twitter posts nowadays. They were used to share thoughts, picture announcements, drama, fun quizzes, bad-luck chains, etc. (Anything goes)
After logging in, bulletins appeared in the "My Bulletin Space" box. You could click "View All Bulletin Entries" to scroll through pages of old posts.
Bulletins weren’t posted from the "My Bulletin Space" box. You had to go to the "My Mail" section.
